Cruz Represents, Showing America Why We Reject the ACA!

Cruz Represents Republicans Well as he Smashed the Opposition Argument with Facts, Anecdotes and Grace

While I have never been a Cruz supporter, one must give respect where respect is due. Cruz did an amazing job on the debate stage, raising questions as to why we never get these kinds of debates on national elections. It was civil, yet not without some witty jabs here and there.

The two started off 8pm central time on Tuesday, both kicking off their opening statements with a thank you, Sanders went first “[getting] right to the point.” He began stating accurately that “Ted Cruz… wants to repeal” the affordable care act or the “so-called Obamacare,” asserting three points from then on which set the theme for the rest of his arguments throughout the debate. Firstly, “your prescription drugs will increase $2000,” then asserting that people will not be able to afford healthcare unless they are rich and lastly that “being a woman is a pre-existing condition.” He continues “the overwhelming majority” of Americans don’t want to repeal the ACA, but rather, improve it. Sanders finishes off his opening statement by stating healthcare is a right, in his belief.

Cruz begins his opening statement, just catching it before Dana was about to pass it off to the first question without allowing him to do it, going forward with “healthcare is our future, its our family, its out moms, our kids.” He continued, “Bernie and the democrats want government to control healthcare.” Cruz doesn’t trust government but rather says “I trust you and I trust your doctor,” finishing by calling the democrats out for their lies including “most infamously,” how Obama “said 37 times ‘If you like your plan you can keep your plan.’ 6 million Americans discovered that was not true while they had their plans cancelled.”

Cruz later smacked down some more truth bombs after having an exchange with Bernie where Sanders asserted republicans will cause everyone to lose their healthcare and Cruz retorted to that, “in 2008 the 10 largest insurance companies made over 8 billion dollars [in profits], the same 10… companies made 15 billion in 2016; profits doubled.” Meanwhile what happened to the average American family?

Sanders responded that he was in agreement and slides in with “Let’s work together on medicare single-payer plan…” and “let’s get insurance companies out of healthcare.”

Cruz clearly disagreed but agreed to work together with the Vermont senator to bring down drug costs by opening up international trade, reform the FDA process and fighting against big Pharma as well as allowing Medicaid to negotiate the price of prescription drugs.

“We shouldn’t be telling people you can’t do everything you can to save your lives,” Cruz said passionately. He presses forward against the old socialist, “We need healthcare reform that empowers patients” and then turns to Bernie and asks him directly “what do democrats say to the 6 million people who-” Cruz was interrupted by Sanders -[what if those insurance companies say “no you cannot have insurance”

Cruz reiterates that the republicans, in every proposal, have some form of the continuation of the individual mandate, without an actual mandate. Sanders continuously relies on emotional appeals for the entire debate, only citing a few hazy figures here and there. Cruz informed America of the horrors of government controlled healthcare by telling some stories and statistics about the government controlled healthcare in the United Kingdom. Bernie equates differences in income to rationing in care, however Cruz ignores this and shows a map of America where Obama impacted people the most and stated “this map looks like all the states that voted for Trump.”

Cruz continues onto the failures of Canadian healthcare “i would know i was born there” (paraphrase), but Bernie just blames it all on the conservative prime minister -Cruz interjects saying “conservative is realtive”- and dismissing it all together. Calling the private system “wasteful.” The Texas senator responded by saying that what Sanders calls wasteful, he calls freedom of choice. Cruz then says solemnly “in Europe” they take the “elderly dope them up and says its time to go,” getting a quick burst of disbelief from everyone in the room, he then backed it with facts asserting people under 50 gets better coverage and the eldarly believe the government is “discriminating against them” in the U.K.

Bernie only retorts by reasserting income is another form of rationing before CNN cuts to a commercial break. I only just realized this article is going to be LONG so I’m breaking it up into three parts. this concludes part one. stand by for part two you can follow me on twitter @sisypheannews or facebook at facebook.com/Dsysiphean and if you would like to get exclusive deals on the latest news, come on over to patreon.com/sisypheannews and help us out!
